Work visa is mandatory for living and working in UAE. The process of obtaining work visa, one is required to have a valid work contract or a job offer in UAE. It is basically the employer’s responsibility to sponsor the employees’ visa application as well as pay the relevant fees.
Once the employee is in UAE, the employer sponsoring him or her should proceed to complete other formalities which may include medical testing, obtaining an Emirates ID card, Labour Card, and the work residency permit being stamped on the employee’s passport within 60 days from the date of arrival. The work residency permit is an important document that is issued by the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) in the emirate where the applicant is employed. If he or she has family members joining along, he or she will be eligible to sponsor them and bring them into the UAE once this stage completes.
